ABOUT DARE TO BE SQUARE - WEST! ------------------------------------------------ A weekend of Dance Callers' workshops, dancing, and jamming in Portland, Oregon. Our mission is to promote and preserve traditional Appalachian square dancing. D2BSW was founded in 2007 by the Portland Old Time Community (AKA Bubbaville). The effort was headed by Maggie Brunjes and Caroline Oakley, who were inspired after attending "Dare to Be Square" in North Carolina. The Bubbaville Community's hard work resulted in a very successful 2007 event! This year, we will be featuring nationally acclaimed caller, Larry Edelman, along with our local favorite, Bill Martin.
